Volunteer with Us!

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Allegheny Goatscape. We have a strong community of volunteers who are vitally important in helping to care for our herds. Project sites are typically around the Greater Pittsburgh area with some further outside the region. Please complete this form if you are interested in individual or group volunteering.

Volunteers can help with the following:

  • Morning/Evening care

  • Outreach events, GoatFest, school visits, etc.

  • Barn maintenance and general "fixing-up"

  • Fence set-up/tear down

  • Cutting unwanted vegetation

Individual Volunteering

Individual volunteers help project set-ups and herd moves and with daily check-ins with the herd that are vital to the herds’ health and well-being.

Volunteer Requirements

  • Attend an orientation session, and commit to a weekly check-in or set-up

  • Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult volunteer

  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs. on occasion

  • For winter care: must be willing to scoop stalls

  • Volunteers should be prepared for all types of weather & be aware that the goats are often located in landscapes with uneven terrain, poison ivy, thickets and ticks

Group Volunteering

Group volunteer events are a great way to support Allegheny Goatscape! Get your group involved by setting up a volunteer day with us. Projects are based on the needs of AGS but may involve cutting unwanted vegetation, setting up fencing, and other various projects.

*Group Volunteering is available during the working season May-October.
